Kawacatoose First Nation

As with YQCFPS, Indigene has a continuing, multi-year relationship with Kawacatoose including education, governance, report writing, and capital development strategy. Indigene partnered with Kawacatoose First Nation on ongoing education governance and planning initiatives involving Chief and Council, educational leaders, youth, staff, and community members. Engagement methods included youth roundtables, staff meetings, community gatherings, interviews, and digital surveys.

The project included development of education governance and performance frameworks under the Regional Education Agreement process, designed to strengthen educational accountability, local decision-making, and community-driven educational priorities. Indigene facilitated multiple rounds of consultation with leadership, school staff, youth, and families to ensure the resulting governance structures reflected community aspirations and educational values.

In addition to governance planning, Indigene supported strategic implementation initiatives, board training, reporting systems, and ongoing capacity development. The process prioritized transparency, continuous engagement, and collaborative decision-making, resulting in governance tools and performance frameworks grounded in Cree and Saulteaux teachings, community voice, and long-term educational sovereignty.

This work demonstrates Indigene’s long-term relational approach and commitment to iterative community consultation processes.
