Indigene has been working with YQCFPS since 2023 and continues to support the organization with strategic planning, project implementation, and report writing. Indigene completed a comprehensive Capital Needs Assessment for YQCFPS focused on culturally grounded infrastructure planning for child and family services. The project included document review, staff interviews, community consultation, demographic analysis, service gap assessment, and long-term infrastructure recommendations.

The project involved extensive collaboration with YQCFPS leadership, frontline staff, Elders, and community members to identify current operational pressures and future service requirements. Indigene assessed existing facilities, transportation assets, staffing capacity, and program delivery models while also supporting the development of strategic recommendations connected to CHRT-41 priorities. Recommendations included the development of a centralized family reunification and prevention centre, a maintenance facility, and staff housing to support long-term workforce sustainability. The project also included detailed projections for future staffing, infrastructure expansion, and culturally responsive programming rooted in Saulteaux values and community priorities.

The work successfully advanced into feasibility study planning for one of the options presented in the Capital Needs Assessment.
