Location: Vancouver Island, BC
Timeline: September 2025 – April 2026
Focus: Comprehensive Community Plan
Indigene supported Lyackson First Nation through a culturally grounded Comprehensive Community Planning process involving thorough document review, interviews, surveys, gatherings, and collaborative engagement rooted in Hul’q’umi’num’ teachings and principles of community-data ownership and control.
The project focused heavily on relationship-building and community re-engagement to ensure that previous planning work remained relevant and reflective of current community priorities. Indigene facilitated hybrid engagement sessions, surveys, focus groups, and community gatherings designed to validate earlier work while creating opportunities for additional input from members across Canada. The process emphasized data sovereignty, collaborative drafting, and integration of language, teachings, stories, and governance priorities into the planning framework.
This work demonstrates Indigene’s ability to support sensitive community planning processes with care, flexibility, and respect for Nation-specific protocols and knowledge systems.
